GEAR UP logoGaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, or GEAR UP, is a federal grant-funded program that provides services to the class of 2023.

GEAR UP services begin with Gaiser seventh graders and follow them through the next six years, including through high school graduation and into their first year of life after high school.

Increase academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education.

SERVICES GEAR UP PROVIDES

Support

Students receive tutoring and academic support: in-class and before and after school. Students also receive test preparation support.

Organization

Students learn organization and study skills that serve them throughout their education.

Visits

Students have opportunities to visit college campuses and tour facilities throughout the year.

Exploration

Students have an opportunity to attend college and career fairs to explore all the options available to them.

Financial

Financial literacy is emphasized through financial education.

Mentoring

Students experience a cross-age mentoring program that helps ease the transition into high school.

Preparation

Students are prepared for high school rigor.

Family

Students’ families are invited to participate in their education through quarterly events that provide information about resources for high school, college, careers and financial planning.
