Rules and Expectations
Students will:
- arrive to class on time
- upon entering the classroom, sit down at their station, log on to Darlingclass.com and follow directions. If the server is down the agenda will be posted on the board.
- conduct themselves at all time in a courteous and professional manner
- make sure that cell phones and pagers are turned off and put away-per school policy they will be confiscated if they are visible
- show respect to teachers, staff, visitors to the classroom, substitute teachers, and other students
- not eat or drink in the classroom (I will make an exception for water with a lid)
- if asked, answer the phone by saying "room 709 student speaking" - Always be polite and respectful. You are representing our class.
- not horseplay (rough play) in the classroom
- remain working until time is called and not line up at the door - As you prepare to leave the classroom please throw away any garbage from your workstation, restart the computer for the next student, and push in your chairs.
- not abuse or vandalize computer equipment, scanners, etc.
- keep backpacks under their workstation or on the table at the front of the classroom
- not print without permission - Unless I have asked you to print something for me you need to ask permission.
- follow the Tech Ethics guidelines as set up by the Vancouver School District.
know the location and operation of safety and emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, telephone, and emergency exits
- know and understand what to do in case of an emergency
Disciplinary actions that will be taken if the rules are not followed:
1st offense - verbal warning
2nd offense - loss of computer for 1 day
3rd offense - loss of computer for 2 days
4th offense - call from instructor to parent
5th offense - contract between instructor, student, and parent
6th offense - referral to administrator

Extra credit assignments when applicable.
Extra credit will ONLY apply when regular assignments are completed.

Classroom Technology Guidelines
Use of the Internet: The use of the Internet for curricular research is permitted. You must make me aware of your purpose for being on the Internet before you use it during class time if it is not directly related to a class project you are doing for me.
Games: Playing games on school computers is not acceptable. It is NOT okay to have them in any form saved on the server.
E-Mail: No web based e-mail. This would include hotmail, mail.com, aol, or any e-mail other than
Respecting Others: Sending messages or using a computer to convey profanity, abusive language, contempt or ridicule, threats, and/or racial or sexual innuendoes is not acceptable.
Pornography: If you encounter a site that is pornographic, it is your responsibility to report it to your instructor immediately. Under no circumstances are you to seek these sites on the Internet, store images from them, print, or send these images using e-mail.
Chat Rooms: Using chat rooms, forums, or any other interactive site is not allowed without instructor permission.
Downloading Graphics: You can download graphics that have to do with projects you are working on. Downloading of any graphics having to do with drugs or gang related will be cause for losing privileges.
Violation(s) of the above rules will result in loss of computer privileges for a minimum of one week for the first infraction and a minimum of one month for the second infraction. If there is another infraction, privileges will be lost for the remainder of the year.
