SMT Council
 

 

The SMT Student Council meets every Monday after school throughout the year to help plan and prepare for all of the social and academic events that take place in our Magnet. The student council is represented by a minumum 2 students from each grade level or by a ratio of 1:30 based on class size.

Senior class 2009: Krystal Dye, Reilly Peavey and Neha Sawal

Junior class 2010: Katie DeVere, Riley Culligan and Josh Lee

Sophomore class 2011: Samantha Brandon

Freshmen class 2012: Austin Gamble, Ian Heffron and Kirben Smoody,

Our SMT Council oversees the development and mantinence of a cooperative and effective student body. SMT student behavior and policies are outlined in our SMT Constitution:

The SMT Council plans SMT social and academic events, SMT Open House, SMT Showcase, and SMT Senior Awards BBQ.

Council Member Qualifications:

Each student desiring to run for the SMT Student Council must:

  • Be enrolled in the SMT program for the current school year.
  • Have a passing grade in all SMT classes with a “C” average or better.
  • State through spoken or written word why they intend to serve the SMT Student Body and what they will do to improve our Magnet.
  • Submit an application with at least one teacher recommendation and the endorsement of at least 20 SMT student body members as indicated by their signatures.
