Mark your calendars! A lot is going on this month...

April 15 -- register at the 600 Wing Desk for the following:

  • April 25 ...Last SMT Blast of the year-- sign up guests (there's a limit!)
  • April 29 ...SMT Guest Speaker
  • May 20 ...field trip to Evergreen Air Museum. Cost is $16 and requires a filed trip permission form signed by a parent. Limit is 80 students.

Experiential Learning Opportunities Abound!

April 24-25 University of Idaho Robotics Competition

2 teams have formed and are preparing to compete in this first robotics challenge. Stay tuned for results!

April 25"Do the Math" field trip to WSU-Vancouver

Lunch is provided as well as t-shirts for each student. Bus loads promptly at 8:30 a.m. (Sign up has ended). Returns around 1:30 p.m.

April 29 Annual SMT Guest Speaker 2nd-4th periods in the 600 Wing Theater

May 5-15 AP Tests

May 20 Evergreen Air Museum field trip

May 22 SMT Magnet Student Showcase 7-9 p.m.

  • All SMT freshmen, sophomores and seniors must present an exhibit of a best work. Juniors will judge freshmen and sophomores. SMT awards and prizes will be presented at the conlcusion.
  • Parents and family members are welcome

May 28-29 SMT Magnet Senior Boards presentations

  • SMT seniors present their senior project in the 600 Wing. Required for graduation.

June 12 SMT Senior Barbecue and senior awards. Time and location TBA.

SMT Booster Club Meeting

The SMT Boosters provide academic and social support for the students of the SMT Magnet Program. Contact Mary Beth Culligan at smtboosters@yahoo.com to join the club!

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month starting at 7 p.m. in the 600 wing.

SMT Senoirs competed at the Oregon Junior Academy of Sciences and the Central Western Oregon Science Expo Feb. 22-23. Students gaining recognition for their work were: Alexa Burks, Clara Culligan, Jonathan Gomes, Andrew Read, Dan Woodman, Danita Serafin, Andy Wu, Ian Talarico and Spencer Vines. Clara and Alexa were winners of the Western Oregon University Scholarships.
