Grading Policy (Word Doc)
Advanced Multimedia Video Communications

These are the grading policies and procedures utilized in the Advanced Multimedia Video Communications program.  Final grades are determined by the performance of each student in these areas:

Projects 40%

Professionalism                               30%
Tests, Papers & Presentation          20%
Daily Work                                    10%

TOTAL                                       100%

The following assessment scale will be used:

93% - 100%  =  A                               76% - 79%  =  C+
90%  -  92%  =  A-                               73% - 75%  =  C
86%  -  89%  =  B+                              70% - 72% =   C-

80%  -  82%  =  B-                               60% - 65%  =  D

Projects consist of self-study, group assignments and hands-on work.  Students will work individually and in teams to produce video productions that demonstrate a variety of skills, knowledge and techniques.  Projects will be produced in partnership with community individuals, groups and businesses outside of Skyview, as well as groups and individuals within Skyview.  Assignments will be produced using digital equipment.

Grades will be determined by:  1. Demonstration of quality standards

  2. Meeting client goal & objectives

  3. Completion is on time & within budget

Professionalism  is highly emphasized in this Career Technical Education program.  Students will receive an evaluation of their performance in:

  • Communication & interpersonal skills
  • Working with a diversity of people
  • Solving professional & personal problems
  • Setting & working toward goals
  • Demonstrating a professional image
  • Identifying & demonstrating quality standards
  • Arriving to class and projects on time
  • Being prepared for the class and the projects
  • Meeting deadlines
  • Leadership activities

Tests, Papers & Oral Presentation  may consist of one presentation with a visual aid; summary papers and tests on industry speakers, tours and reading materials; and notebook. Most written assignments will be typed. Students will be required to complete daily timesheets.

Daily Work is using class time wisely.  Students may earn their points in this category by working on assigned projects, reading trade journals or trade articles, researching video production topics or learning more about equipment and how to operate it.

Attendance is a crucial part of this program.  Since video production work is hands-on and must be completed in teams, makeup work is difficult.  Deadlines for assignments will be enforced.  Except for excused absences, students must submit their work on the assigned date.  One day for every day missed will be given whenever possible to make up missed individual work.  Students are responsible for information and work missed.   Failure to meet a deadline will constitute NO credit for the work completed. Students will lose 3 professionalism points for every excused absence.  Truancies result in a loss of daily work points, project points and a loss of daily professionalism points.

Tardies are earned when a student is not sitting in his/her assigned seat when roll is taken.  In addition to the general Skyview Student Tardy Policy, each tardy will result in the loss of 5 professionalism points.
