WELCOME TO WEB PAGE EXAMPLES

This page is constructed to allow travel to the various examples of web page use
in Dr. Questad's web site as well as travel to other Skyview webpages.

One day Mrs. Johnson copied her main page for Dr. Questad.
All she did was delete Mrs. Johnson's name and put in her own.
Mrs. Johnson took about 15 minutes to show the few secrets and now Dr. Questad creates her own lessons.

 ASSIGNMENT LOGS
Cool Deal: Any assignment that I list on my web log has the capacity to be clicked and show the handout I created in word (or PageMill) and distributed to the class.
I can also post my lecture notes.

Purpose: Students keep, by hand, identical logs from an assignment list I give in class (and post on whiteboard) which are graded at random dates.
They may check the respective log on my web page for clarification.

However, the greatest use has come from
1). those who are absent who access it while at home;
2). parents who are reinforcing student work completion, time management, etc.;
3). Learning Support staff who want to keep track of student assignments;
4). tutors, both peer and paid professionals, assisting students;
5). and professional learning centers working with my students.

 CALENDARS
Cool Deal: Calendar entries can also be clicked on to access lecture notes, worksheets, etc.
Parent calls up for list of things absent student is missing- refer to web page!

Purpose: For me! I already make up working calendars to help myself organize
the scope and sequence of my instruction.
I simply publish them with a clear notice stating: "Many assignments are projected in advance.
Please notice "Last updated" date for current adjustments and changes."

The greatest responses to calendar use include giving
1). a visual supplement to the Assignment Log for long range time management;
2). full picture to absentee, parent and support group of what's happening and required in class

 RESEARCH PROJECT

Cool Deal: Mrs. Schmidt and I team on our projects and then simply post our plan.
Mrs. Schmidt, tech end of the team, uses our project site on the web to drive her class instruction. Students access our site, the Internet and their working document to work on simultaneously.

Purpose: We are working on making our project sites instructional, informational and integrative in student project production. While we haven't totally eliminated (but it's coming!) photocopying instructional packets, we are able to refer students to our site for al lost hand-outs, supplemental information and student examples of projects.

 INSTRUCTIONAL UNITS

Cool Deal: I'm becoming increasingly time efficient (I hope)!
I can save these and re-post each year, improving as I go.

 DISADVANTAGES OF A WEB PAGE

1. Memory Limit: Using graphics and photos takes up a lot of limited allotted memory - I've used up my allotment and had to copy selected work to a CD, which is especially inconvenient since our office computers are not equipped with CD capacity.

2. Tech Probs: Sometimes the network goes down.

3. Time Consumption: Searching the Internet for great graphics and taking photos of students and scanning means you have lost the time efficiency advantage and web creation has become...

3. Addictive

 PAPERLESS ASSIGNMENTS

1. Web Page or Shared Student Assignment

2. Students email or Drop Box products

3. Teacher corrects using "Reviewing" mode

4. Optional: Students email or Drop Box corrected draft

 PAPERLESS DOCUMENTATION

Word Student Chart: Parent/Student Contact Record
Using Word I make a chart with columns for student name and contact comments. I conduct as much communication on email as possible so the documentation ends up copying and pasting.
