WASMUN EXPOSED

This was an experience I will remember
for the rest of my life. - Brandon Daves

I don't know how I'll survive next year without these students. -Dr. Questad

Brandon leads a caucus in the General Assembly
with his research on The Friends Committee.

Brandon feels at home at the podium.
Every country's delegate who wants to speak is listed on a chart and has 3 minutes to speak, as many times as he/she signs up.

Jolleen takes notes in the
UNICEF committee room...

...and then shows her preparation in her speech
on AIDS/HIV problems and solutions.
The Model United Nations at the University of Washington was a great experience. It has improved my debate techniques and made me a stronger debater. - Jolleen Hudson.

Out of the thousands of words that were spoken, eight words set us up. We stood and one of our delegates replied to the moderator,
"The delegation of France is present and voting."
We sat as we saw the faces of
the other delegations fill with fear.
France is present and they will make a stand.
-Jolleen Hudson

Iraq bombed Israel and threatened further attacks,
including possible targets in the US.

Jason, as France's delegate to the Security Council, checked into the computer at the Silver Cloud Inn for some research on Iraq while the rest of the WASMUN team swam in the pool (x-rated photo prohibited per JH) with the Canada contingent.

While hearing all of the other delegates speak, Jason
wrote his speech on France's increasingly tentative support of dropping sanctions on Iraq.

Gavin shook the Middle East Multilateral Summit with his impassioned and knowledgeable defense of past UN resolutions supporting the Palestinian National Authority's claims in Israel.

After the last meeting...
we all agree we were a great team...
but where is Gavin?

The next day I arrived with well-kept hair, ironed shirt and pants (thank you, Jolleen), a tie, still a missing contact, and still wearing skate shoes, but hey. -Gavin Vanausdeln
The overall experience was very good and I now better understand a lot of the differing views across a global scale. I would like to thank all who participated. -Tyler Evans
