1. Teach Teacher Reviewing and Student Editing Functions to Students
To use the reviewing option efficiently with all its abilities, the
students should be given instruction and practice time in its use.
2. Enter your assignment on a web page or Shared Student File
Create your assignment or project on your web page or type it up on Word and drop it in your school's Shared Student Folder. Either way, your students will be able to access your assignment on the computer. The benefit of having it on the web is that they will be able to access it from home as well.
Expect students to copy the assignment (on web or in drop box) onto their Word document under their heading so that the rubric is there for both you and student to reference. Using Reviewing option, on the final draft you will be able to fill out the scores on the rubric right on the page.
2. Students access, copy assignment and paste it to their own Word document.
3. Students complete assignment.
4. Students email or Drop Box completed products to you
a) Emailing is easiest. Students type up the assignment or project and email you it as an attachment
b) Drop box circumvents email related problems: We just email our tech person with a request something like this: Please create a Fable Drop Box on Lisa Schmidt's Shared Student File with accessibility for both her and Bev Questad. We want the students to be able to drop their work in this file without being able to tamper with other documents dropped into it. However, both Mrs. Schmidt and I want the ability to write on the documents and deposit them into a Student Access Box that students can access to get their own (and only their own) paper back for editing and resubmission back to the Fable Drop Box.

5. Teacher corrects using "Reviewing" mode
a) Emailed document: Teacher opens document and right clicks mouse at highlight icon and an editing menu will appear. Click on "Reviewing" and then chose the highlighting color you would like to use.
b) Dropped document: Go to the drop box and open file from student and then access reviewing option by right clicking on highlighter icon.

6. Optional: Students email or put in Drop Box corrected draft back to teacher for final grading
Teacher fills out rubric and makes comments as needed.
