GREEK MYTH PROJECT
Present a myth as a skit or script read-through with chosen classmates to the rest of the class within 15 minutes. No presentation may go over 15 min., including set-up/transition time.
Include in your presentation
1. One major comparison to the
myth of Jason and the Argonauts
2. Relate your myth to one of the following, explaining how and/or why giving
at least one example:
1. Explain how either of the life lessons Kitto described relates to your myth:a. The quality of a man matters more than his achievement
b. That violence and recklessness will still lead to disaster2. If Greek myths explored to what extent people’s lives are in their own destiny, explain to what extent your character exhibited free will.
3. Explain how your myth shows that treating others with arrogance and disrespect brings self-destruction.
4. Rosenberg and Baker write that myths are valuable because they reveal eternal truths about our nature and quests in life and that they reflect attitudes and feelings that are common to us all. What does your myth reveal about our nature?
5. Ancient myths are said to focus directly upon the nature of humanity and how people cope with their physical, social, religious and political environment. Explain how the major character in your myth coped with his/her environmental challenges.
