SUBJECT OF RESOLUTION: Chemical Regulation

FULLY ALARMED that even before a baby is born it is exposed to dangerous chemicals absorbed by its mother from the environment,

NOTING WITH DEEP CONCERN that there is evidence that human health is affected by exposure to toxic chemicals,

CONVINCED that many diseases, with links to environmental pollutants, are rising, and

AWARE that every year more than 100 new chemicals are added to over the already existing 100,000 (1981 estimate) human-made chemicals,

DECLARES ACCORDINGLY that many of the new chemicals increasingly available containt similarities to the hazardous PCBs and chlorinated pesticides that have already been labelled carcinogenic;

RECOMMENDS that the UN take on the regulation and patent provision for all proposed chemical introductions.
