2008 VSD MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Congratulations to the Skyview Model United Nations team, which hosted the 2008 Vancouver School District Model United Nations at Skyview on Friday, 3/14.

Club president Brian Tang coordinated the event with Clark College's MUN instructor, Jeremiah Thompson and Skyview's MUN advisor, Dr. Bev Questad. Mr.Thompson taught college-style MUN debate protocol at a February evening class at Skyview for all district participants and then brought his college students to assist him in moderating the district MUN conference at Skyview in March.

Special thanks goes to Dr. Mike Stromme, VSD Administrator, who encouraged and supported this year's VSD Model UN Conference, and Brian Tang, SHS MUN President, who supported the SHS team by organizing the Clark College connection. In addition, thanks goes to Mike Brinker, a SHS and Clark graduate and MUN alum from both schools, who served as Head Judge. Mike had recently returned from Air Force deployment in Afghanistan and is currently pursuing an advanced degree.
