REVIEW OF 2/22 MEETING

Skyview Model United Nations,

I hope you all have enjoyed MUN so far. The idea of research can be a bit
daunting, but there's no doubt that it makes to whole MUN experience much
more rewarding.

For those of you who were not able to make it to Friday's meeting, we
learned about position papers, a useful way to condense research on an issue
into usable form. A position paper typically consists of about two
paragraphs in which you first analyze the fundamental issues behind a
particular topic and then describe, from your country's perspective, what
exactly should be done about it.

At Friday's meeting we also briefly discussed the upcoming
rehearsal<http://skyview.vansd.org/bquestad/mun/vsd/rehearse/invitation.htm>,
which will be this Tuesday, February 26th, from 7:00 until 8:30 or 9 in the
500 wing. Clark MUN students will be there to run us through the collegiate
style of MUN debate that we will employ for the March 14th conference. We
will use the topic of Security Council reform, since it requires only
rudimentary background knowledge to have a good discussion about it.

At Friday's meeting we also started the process of signing up for countries
for the March 14th conference. Try to find a partner. Each of us must
decide which of the two
committees<http://skyview.vansd.org/bquestad/mun/vsd/Invites/2008/participant08.htm>we
prefer. Finally, each 2-person team should list its top 3 choices for
countries<http://skyview.vansd.org/bquestad/mun/vsd/Invites/2008/countrysign-up.htm>
.

Finally, on Friday we briefly discussed the Eugene Oregon MUN conference.
If certain details fall into place, then we may be able to go. Those who
are interested should start preparing today by going to

If you have any questions, or wish to no longer receive these emails, please
respond to this email.

Hope to see you all Tuesday evening!
