Congratulations to the Skyview Model United Nations team which hosted the 2008 Vancouver School District Model UN on Friday, 3/14. President Brian Tang coordinated the event with Clark College's MUN Instructor, Jeremiah Thompson and Skyview's advisor, Dr. Bev Questad. Mr. Thompson taught college-style MUN debate protocol at an earlier February evening class for all participants and then brought his students to assist in moderating the district MUN conference in March.
Skyview's team walked away with 12 awards, which computed to 60% of the honors designated. Earning a first place speaker award was Zach Byrd. Earning awards for the best delegation were Elizabeth Kaley and Emma Hallas and earning distinction for preparing the best position paper was Elizabeth Kaley.

The Skyview Model United Nations attended Clark College's Model UN Conference on May 31. The high school team was the only non-college team participating and was acknowledged for its outstanding preparation, presentation and diplomacy.
The competitive, well-prepared Skyview students received the following first place awards in the college event:

MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE: Zach Byrd
BEST ORATOR: James Bryant
MOST DISTINGUISHED DELEGATE: Brian Tang
This is the first year that high school students have placed in the college event. Team preparation for the event was led by outgoing Skyview MUN President, Brian Tang, at weekly meetings.
