Warning: Our goal is to keep the book groups small. Adults and high school students will be running the groups.
Some books, due to few who sign up for them, may be dropped entirely.
No matter what, we will try to assign you to the book of your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice choice.

Almost autobiographical, it is the life story of a poor boy in 1800's England.


___Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift
A satire, written to encourage the reader to reconsider the accepted state of the world... On his ‘travels’, Gulliver meets various other strange beings (Bibliomania).

___Life of Pi * by Yann Martel
A young boy survives a ship accident at sea only to find himself sharing a lifeboat with a tiger.

___The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
Hemingway was awarded a Nobel Prize after publication. "It is a tale of success in the midst of failure, of quiet stoicism and courage, and refusing to give in to the challenges the world throws at him. Most of all, it is a story about courage" (Moore).

Once and Future King by T. H. White
This "is one of the most complete and unique portrayals of the immortal legend of King Arthur (Moulder and Schaefer). Led by Lizzie Wulf.

___The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope
This is a novel about a king and a charming single man whose similarities in looks lead to confused identities. Led by Shivan Van Allen

___The Sea-Wolf by Jack London
An amateur literary critic finds himself picked up by a sealing schooner that collides with a steamer. "After The Ghost rescues some refugees near Japan on its sealing expedition, Larson and Van Weyden come into conflict" (Bibliomania).

___The Secret Life of Bees * by Sue Monk Kidd
A young girl runs away from home during MLK Civil Rights days in search of evidence of her mother.
