Parent-Student Field Trip Notification for
THE SPUDDER INVITATIONAL
Dear Parents/Guardians/Students,
The Skyview High School Speech and Debate Class and Debate Club are participating in the Spudder Invitational Tournament held at Ridgefield High School on Saturday, 12/14. Please see (and keep) the attached invitation for information. SHS will be paying all fees.

am: Arrive at SHS Flagpole for departure with pre-authorized adult volunteers.
7:15 PM: Arrival at SHS Flagpole for student pre-arranged transportation home.
SPECIAL INFORMATION
1. The Tournament meets a class requirement for the Speech and Debate Class. Only one event is mandatory.
2. All students who wish to go must pre-qualify by Wed., 12/4. This entails being at an excellent or superior level in all areas of event evaluation on any of the following you plan to enter. Students who qualifying may then also enter the other events listed in the Spudder invitation..
EVENTS THAT REQUIRE PRE-QUALIFICATIONExpository Oratory Dramatic Humorous Interp Dual Interp Ed Commentary Interpretive Reading (half poetry, half prose)
3. All students who prequalify may select other events not on the above list to also participate in.
4. If a Speech and Debate Class student cannot attend this tournament due to illness, a parent note will be required on the next school day. Writing the Institute of Peace Essay will be expected as the make-up assignment.
5. Students should bring food as the need is anticipated. I suggest an apple, two cans or bottles of beverages, cookies and a sandwich. A baked potatoe will be provided by the tournament, but experience tells me students may get hungry throughout the day.
6. We also advise that students bring a deck of cards, homework or book to read in case there are time delays.
7. SHS needs volunteers to judge the events. ~

8. To attend any debate tournament, a hardcopy of all of your prepared events, the attached signed Code, Field Trip Permission Form and Fieldtrip Information Form must be on file with Dr. Questad.

Please notify her if an emergency has occured and you cannot attend.
During the tournament we may have no phone available,
but many students will have cell phones that may be used.

by Wedneday, 12/4. ~
