13. Graphic Organizer

Write a thesis statement with a minimum of 5 substantiating topic sentences proving the thesis and a conclusion that gives a message, moral, theme, main idea or lesson. Numbered paragraphs corresponding to numbers of research copies.

Assigned 12/15 and due 12/16    

14. First Draft: Graphic organizer on right side and research on left. Numbers and highlighting corresponding for each paragraph. First draft with full bibliography
Graded for completion points and all items in folder (to be listed on a rubric)

15. Second Draft: Spell and grammar checked, corrections from first draft, silent reading for self-correcting and A-Maker in Englishread and out loud to someone who signs off-

16. Third Draft: Graded for improvement points from First Draft Rubric. Final day to work in class on paper is 1/9. All work on the research paper after the 9th must be scheduled after school with Dr. Questad and Mrs. Schmidt.

16. Final Draft: Expected on 1/9, but may be turned in any day until 1/16. For a paper to be graded as a final draft it must have the Final Draft Rubric on it.

No late final draft is accepted, even if absent during our prior workdays. There have been modifications in the calendar to allow for extra time throughout the project for those who have been absent. Send draftdue to school with a parent or friend.

15. Self-assessment and Mentor Review

16. Read The Odyssey (begin while working on research paper) from the textbook, taking quizzes each Friday on the week's reading and vocabulary.

Book 9: tape
Book 10: volunteers with pre-assigned parts (photocopied and given to them for practice)
Book 12: girls pre-assigned Circe parts, boys pre-assigned Odysseus parts and narrator
Book 21: Everyone is class with pre-assigned lines and practice time: first half reads to class first day, second half reads to class next.
Book 22: Class vote on how to read (silent, pre-assigned, volunteers or partners)
Book 23: Partners alternate the reading and present their choice of question from page 567. Writer reads question, speaker uses notes completed by writer which they both "composed."
Presentations graded with bonus points.
