Questions:

  1. Do hours that I worked helping Red Cross count as service hours?
  2. When and where are meetings?
  3. What time are meetings?
  4. What type of events are there in Red Cross?
  5. Are there any dues for Red Cross?
  6. Who do I contact about joining Red Cross?
  7. Are there any scholarship oppurtunities?

Answers:

1. Yes they do. For either your senior project or a health class or NHS.

2. Meetings are called as needed by Mrs. Faulk. They are always on Mondays, right after school at 2:10. If you would like to attend a meeting or get involved, either ask Mrs. Faulk for the next meeting date or you can ask one of the officers. (Also, there is always a big sign hanging over the railing in the Commons on Mondays of meetings to remind you!)

3. Meetings are Mondays after school at 2:10. (Not every Monday, only as needed.) Usually we don't meet between Thanksgiving and Christmas, nor after the January blood drive until after spring break. We always meet the 3 or 4 Mondays before a scheduled blood drive.

4. Blood drives, bottled water and sports drink collection, fund raising for disaster funds. For more information go to the events page.

5. The only dues in the Red Cross Club are that all members must buy either a Red Cross t-shirt or a sweatshirt. Price for a t-shirt was $10 and the cost of a sweatshirt was $26 (2005 prices). You may have your name printed on the back of either one for an additional &5. These are the only dues required to join the club.

6. To join Red Cross you should just start attending the meetings consistently! And if you start mid-way through the year, talk to Mrs. Faulk about getting a shirt ordered.

7. There are scholarship oppurtunites for those involved in Red Cross. The Nacin Narayan Scholarship is accessible for those who participate in the club. The Red Cross offers some scholarship money based on the amount of blood donated at each blood drive.
